Faced with the complexity and urgency of ecological issues, filmmaking is becoming a crucial medium for connecting humanity and nature.

The AI-Empowered Ecological Film Incubator, jointly organized by ANFFF and the Shanghai Vancouver Film School (SHVFS) of Shanghai University, in collaboration with international partners. It aims to empower ecological filmmaking through AI technology and support projects that combine storytelling, technical expertise, and social value.

This initiative encourages creators to explore the innovative potential of AI tools in ecological documentaries and short films. AI can improve efficiency, reduce risks and costs, and broaden the possibilities of filmmaking in content generation, shot capture, and post-production optimization. At the same time, AI also provides new avenues for ecological storytelling, allowing technology to truly contribute to the dissemination of environmental issues and humanity's understanding of nature. Through this initiative, ANFFF hopes to promote global exchange of ecological conservation concepts, foster collaborative innovation between science, technology, and art, and cultivate forward-thinking creative talent in ecological filmmaking.

Location: Shanghai Education Hall

More Than Exploration: The Deep Sea and the Polar Regions shifts its focus from the future of technology to the depths of nature, focusing on marine ecology and biodiversity conservation, exploring how visual storytelling can foster new ecological understandings between science, art, and the public.

The forum brings together international guests from the fields of documentary, scientific research, and the marine industry to share their real-life experiences and stories across the oceans and polar regions. Invited guests include Wendy Darke, former Head of the BBC's Natural History Unit and current founder of True to Nature; Shen Jian, founder of the nonprofit N.O.C., dedicated to marine conservation and education; Luo Yi, travel writer and documentary filmmaker, expert representative from the French luxury expedition cruise brand Ponant, who has long focused on the sustainable exploration of polar and deep-sea culture; and Thomas Kan, Director of PADI China, a long-time advocate for marine philanthropy and the promotion of diving culture.

Through dialogue and visual exchange, the forum will explore the diversity and fragility of deep-sea and polar ecosystems, showcasing the intersection of scientific exploration, artistic expression, and social action. ANFFF hopes to promote continued cooperation in marine protection and image communication through cross-industry exchanges and public participation, allowing more people to see the ocean, understand the ocean, and become co-guardians of its future.
