Shorts: The Living Witnesses
The Living Witnesses reframes nature as an agent of revelation. Through ethnographic observation, experimental montage, and poetic form, the programme journeys from Patagonia (From the Mountain We See the Mountain) to the Alps (Tomorrow, the Burning Heavens), and into fractured human–animal intimacies (Underdog). Each work unveils concealed trajectories of crisis: deforestation masked by myth, skies that recall apocalyptic fears, class divides echoed in pedigree dogs. Collectively, the films revive the original sense of “apocalypse” as unveiling — not catastrophe, but disclosure. They ask what structures decide what becomes visible, and what remains obscured, positioning cinema as a means to listen to landscapes and uncover their testimony.
