This shorts programme conceives cinema as a living laboratory, where global crisis meets local ways of knowing. From Bolivia’s salt flats to New York’s parks, the films capture the fragile negotiations between human and non-human survival. Felipe Rosa’s Between Salt and Sky (UK premiere, Brazil/Chile) confronts climate change and lithium extraction through community ritual, while Magaly Ugarte de Pablo’s Something Mutual (UK premiere, Mexico) gives poetic voice to Mexico City’s urban flora. Other highlights include Coywolf (USA), tracing urban wildness in New York City, and Goodbye Pig (Italy), a lyrical reimagining of industrial farming through the eyes of a pig. Together, these works refuse easy solutions, instead opening dialogue between tradition and modernity, resilience and exploitation. The Laboratory of Coexistence asks audiences to imagine new forms of living-together in a changing world.
