ANFFF25 Opening Ceremony: Once Upon a Time in a Forest

£25.00

The 2025 Animal Nature Future Film Festival begins with a cinematic journey into courage, community, and ecological imagination. Once Upon a Time in a Forest (Finland, 93’), directed by Virpi Suutari, unfolds as a modern eco-fable: crystalline lakes and ancient trees meet the looming threat of man-made extinction. At its centre is Ida, a 22-year-old organiser whose love for the forest becomes the foundation of Finland’s new youth-led movement, confronting entrenched industries and generational divides. The ceremony is hosted by actor and animal welfare advocate Dan Richardson, alongside festival director Kean Cao, who introduces ANFFF’s vision for the year. Together, they open an evening of inspiration and responsibility, where cinema serves as both witness and catalyst. A post-screening Q&A invites audiences to reflect on the power of stories to mobilise collective action for our shared ecological future.

Event Duration: 5 pm-8 pm
Date: 25/10/2025
Location: Curzon Cinema Soho, 99 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 5DY, United Kingdom
